NACCW builds models of care, and implements programmes and projects for children, youth, and their families, demonstrating the value of child and youth care workers in providing holistic services to children and their families.
Our models are designed to be replicable, scalable, and flexible using a social franchise approach to implement programmes across contexts.

Isibindi Model
In 2001, NACCW developed the Isibindi model, meaning courage in IsiZulu, as a response to the large number of orphans and vulnerable children and youth in South Africa.
Child Protection
Child and youth care workers (CYCWs) identify child survivors of abuse and neglect, and these cases are reported to NACCW and to other relevant stakeholders.
Disability
The Disability programme aims to ensure that the needs of children and youth with disabilities are addressed in NACCW projects.
May'Khethele OVC Programme
NACCW implemented the May’Khethele (meaning “I choose for myself” in isiZulu) programme for orphaned and vulnerable children and youth (OVC&Y).
Safe Parks
Safe Parks are areas set aside for the supervised recreational or educational pursuits of children living in poor communities.
ECD
This programme was implemented with trained child and youth care workers (CYCWs) in basic ECD skills.
Youth Development
Isibindi Sinako places special emphasis on support and activities related to the transition from childhood to adulthood.

Creating Circles
of Care
During COVID-19 in 2021, NACCW implemented the Creating Circles of Care Programme in partnership with Aware.org and Innovation Edge.
Isibindi Ezikoleni
The Isibindi Ezikoleni Model provides a holistic and integrated child and youth care (CYC) response to the needs of girls and boys in primary and secondary schools.
Youth Forums
Youth Forums provide opportunities for youth in residential care facilities, communities and school-based programmes to advocate for their needs and play a role in decision-making on matters that affect them.
YWMEP
The Young Women's & Men's Empowerment Programme provide them with the knowledge, resources, skills and opportunities to achieve their personal development goals and to empower them by building leadership skills and their ability to deal with the pressures.
